Symfio + QuickBooks: World class cloud accounting, financial management in one place

Intuit QuickBooks is the world’s most widely used cloud accounting platform for small and mid-sized businesses. Czech and Slovak companies most often meet it at the moment they expand abroad or set up an entity for international investors. And that is exactly when a typical problem appears: the parent company keeps its books in Pohoda or Money, the foreign subsidiary in QuickBooks, and the group’s financial overview is glued together by hand in Excel. Symfio joins all of this into one whole. It connects to QuickBooks via API, loads the data and combines it with the other systems in the group. The result is unified reporting, a cash flow outlook and planning for the entire structure, available to any executive in the browser.

What does connecting Symfio and QuickBooks bring you?

  1. Connection via the official API

Symfio connects directly to QuickBooks Online via API. Synchronization runs automatically, typically overnight. No report exports, no CSV downloads, no retyping.

  1. Consolidation across countries and systems

Foreign entities on QuickBooks and domestic companies on Pohoda, Money or ABRA Flexi are reported with one methodology in one overview. Leadership and investors see the group as a whole, with the option to drill into each company in detail.

  1. Investor reporting without night shifts

Companies with international investors report regularly and in an expected structure. Symfio compiles the profit and loss statement, cash flow and key metrics automatically, so a monthly report takes minutes instead of days. The history stays stored, and you can document the company’s development in a few clicks.

  1. Cash flow and planning in one tool

The built in cash flow planning tool works with receivables, payables and planned items from QuickBooks. You upload a budget and Symfio continuously compares it with actuals. You see deviations immediately, without a single Excel export.

  1. Management accounting according to your logic

Custom categorization and tagging of cost centers, projects, activities and analytical accounts lets you track the company the way you run it: by products, markets or teams. The methodology stays the same across all entities, so the numbers can truly be compared.

How the connection works

Both Symfio and QuickBooks run in the cloud, so there is nothing to install on your side. The connector links via API and synchronizes data regularly, typically overnight. When you need fresh numbers right away, you trigger the sync manually. Symfio does not write into the accounting; it only reads the data.

The technical part of implementation usually takes a few hours. The managerial part takes longer: setting up the reporting structure, categorization and plans. How long it takes depends on how well your company has its financial management thought through. If you have no finance manager, we can help through our fractional CFO services.

Key benefits for users

  • Time saved: reporting prepares itself, with no exports or copying.
  • Better decisions: reports and forecasts come straight from accounting data.
  • Fewer mistakes: manual data handling drops to a minimum.
  • Data driven management for international groups too: several entities clearly in one place.
