Reporting and dashboards

Reports in Symfio are built from the same accounting data your company files for tax and shows the bank, refreshed every night and laid out the way you run the business. Anyone with access can click from a total down to the entries behind it, so a question raised in a meeting can be answered in that meeting.

Features

Income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement for a company, holding, fund or the whole group

All three statements are built automatically from your accounting data, for one company, a holding, a fund or the whole consolidated group. Choose any period, including your fiscal year, and view it by month, quarter or year. Break it down by category, account, company, cost centre, project or activity, or by your own hierarchy of up to five levels.

Two switches add analysis without Excel: % of revenue shows each line as a share of revenue, and year on year puts this year next to last year with the change in money and in per cent. The balance sheet can show balances or the movements behind them, and the cash flow statement uses the direct method, built from movements on your cash accounts.

Build the report you actually need in one place, including a direct comparison with the plan or with adjusted figures, and add comments to the income statement so the explanation stays with the numbers it belongs to.

Drill down from statements to the journal and the source document

Expand any line to the lowest level and open the journal behind it: date, counterparty, description, account, cost centre and project for every entry, with filters on the side. From there you can go down to individual documents.

If entries are tagged to employees, the journal can show the person’s name instead of the company name, which helps with HR reporting and cost controlling.

Invoices and open items

An overview of issued and received invoices lets you spot errors and gaps quickly, and your receivables and payables are compiled automatically from the books, so nobody has to ask the accountant for a list.

Receivables and payables calendar

See your receivables and payables by due date, so you know what should come in, what has to go out, and when.

Management dimensions: cost centres, projects, activities

Cost centres, projects and activities come across from your accounting automatically. On top of them you can add your own categories, tags, responsible people and employee names, then filter or group any statement by them.

You get the profitability of a branch or the costs of a project without asking your accountant to change how they post.

Standard dashboards and KPI overviews

The Financial overview puts revenue, costs, gross and net profit, receivables, payables and cash flows on one screen, for one company or the whole group, and every filter applies to all charts at once.

Balance sheet metrics cover days sales outstanding, days payable outstanding, the cash conversion cycle, debt to assets, equity to assets, interest cover, net debt to EBITDA and debt service coverage. Each comes with its formula, colour coding and a benchmark against the 20 largest NYSE companies in your industry. Any dashboard opens full screen for presenting, and the Executive Summary can be customised and shared with the people who need it.

Export to Excel and PDF

Download any report view as a file for further work, and export cash flow forecasts, including the comparison with actuals, straight to Excel.

Report sharing and user roles

Share reports inside Symfio instead of sending spreadsheets around. Administrators manage data sources, mapping and plans, and viewers can look without changing anything.

You can narrow a user’s access down to a single dashboard, from Symfio or an embedded Power BI report, and hide everything else. An investor, a board member or your bank then sees exactly what they need and nothing more. Every sign-in uses two-factor authentication.
