Planning and budgets

Create a budget for a fixed calendar period and enter monthly figures in a table laid out like your income statement; totals roll up automatically. A basic plan takes five to ten minutes to set up.

Tick Compare with actuals and the figures from your books appear next to the plan, with overruns in red and savings in green, in money and as a percentage of the plan. Comments stay attached to the lines they explain, and each company plans in its own currency.

Choose up to five dimensions for each plan: account, cost centre, activity, project, company, or P&L category and subcategory. More detail gives more precise variances, and if a cost centre or activity doesn’t exist yet, you can create it without leaving the plan.

One click expands or collapses the whole table by a level, so the same plan works for a management meeting and for tracking down a variance.

A plan can hold several scenarios, for example optimistic, realistic and pessimistic. Start a new one by copying an existing scenario and change only the figures that differ.

Next to the fixed budget, keep a forecast that you update as the year goes on. The Predicted view shows actual results up to the last closed month and continues with the forecast for the rest of the year, so you always have a current estimate of the full year.

Plans don’t have to be typed in by hand. You can connect plans kept in Excel or Google Sheets, and bring in non-financial and operational data such as a CRM, timesheets or project management, which we connect to fit your situation.
