Before you start
- Permissions: any Symfio user. Through the MCP server Claude sees only the companies and reports you are permitted to see in Symfio.
- Time required: 3–5 minutes.
- Have ready: a Claude account (web, Claude Desktop or Claude Code) and the sign-in details of your Symfio account.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Server address | https://mcp.symfio.app/mcp |
| Connection type | HTTP + OAuth sign-in (Symfio account) |
| Name in Claude | symfio |
Mind the address: it must end with /mcp. Plain mcp.symfio.app or /sse does not work (returns a 404 error).
Recommended: Claude on the web or Claude Desktop (chat)
The simplest route, no terminal needed: everything is done in the Claude settings.
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Fill in Name:
Symfioand URL:https://mcp.symfio.app/mcp. - Click Add and then Connect.
- In the browser sign in with your Symfio account and allow access for Claude.
- In a new chat enable the Symfio connector via the tools icon below the input field.
Then simply ask Claude as usual, for example “Pull from Symfio…” – it uses the Symfio tools by itself.
Alternative for Claude Code (terminal / Code tab in Claude Desktop)
The chat connector is not used in Claude Code. If you work in Claude Code, set up the connection as follows:
1. Add the Symfio server to Claude
- Open a terminal (PowerShell or the Terminal panel in the Claude app).
- Run
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user symfio https://mcp.symfio.app/mcp
--scope user means the server is available in all your projects and folders, not only the current one.
2. Sign in via /mcp
- In the terminal run
claude(interactive mode). - Type
/mcpand press Enter. - Select symfio in the list – it shows Needs authentication.
- Choose Authenticate. A browser window opens.
In the terminal it looks like this: claude → /mcp → symfio · needs authentication → Authenticate.
3. Confirm access in the browser
Sign in with your Symfio account and allow access for Claude. On success the browser shows a message that you can close the window, and in Claude symfio switches to connected.
4. Open a new session and verify the connection
The Symfio tools load only in a new session – you will not see them yet in the session in which you just signed in. You can check the status at any time with claude mcp list. The correct output is: symfio: https://mcp.symfio.app/mcp (HTTP) - ✓ Connected.
When something does not work
| Symptom | Solution |
|---|---|
| 404 error / connector does not connect | Check the address; it must be exactly https://mcp.symfio.app/mcp. |
| Claude in chat does not use Symfio | Check that the Symfio connector is enabled in that chat (tools icon below the input field). |
| Needs authentication (Claude Code) | The sign-in expired. Repeat steps 2 and 3 (claude → /mcp → symfio → Authenticate). This happens after a while and is normal. |
| Claude does not see the symfio tools (Claude Code) | Open a new session. Tools do not load into a session that was running during sign-in. |
| /mcp does not work in the Code tab | In Claude Desktop (Code tab) /mcp does not open. Run claude in a regular terminal and sign in there – the setting then applies in the app as well. |
| symfio is missing from the list (Claude Code) | The server is not added – repeat step 1. |
Checklist
- The address is
https://mcp.symfio.app/mcp. - Chat: the Symfio connector is connected and enabled in the chat.
- Claude Code:
claude mcp listshows symfio · Connected and you are working in a new session.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Conrad and connecting Claude via MCP?
Conrad is the AI controller built into the Symfio app (the Conrad menu) and needs no setup. Use the MCP server connection when you want to work with Symfio data in your own Claude (chat, Desktop, Claude Code), for example to prepare your own analyses and artifacts.
Does Claude see all companies through MCP?
No. You sign in with your Symfio account, so Claude sees only the companies and reports you are permitted to see.
Do I need to sign in repeatedly?
The OAuth sign-in expires after some time. In chat simply reconnect the connector (Connect); in Claude Code repeat /mcp → symfio → Authenticate.
