Before you start
- Permissions: the API is secured with an API key. The key is issued by the Symfio team on request; access is usually requested by a user with the Administrator role.
- Time required: 5 minutes to request the key; the integration itself depends on your tool.
- What to prepare: the list of companies whose data you want to read via the API, and a description of where you will use the data (BI tool, data warehouse, custom application).
What the API is for
- Reading income statement data and other structured data from Symfio into BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), data warehouses or internal applications.
- Automated integrations – for example regularly pulling monthly results into group reporting without manual exports.
- A uniform data structure across companies, even when each one uses a different accounting system.
Getting access
- Write to us at support@symfio.app. State the name of your organization, the companies whose data you want to read and the purpose of the integration.
- Wait for the API key to be issued. Treat the key like a password – do not forward it by e-mail to other people and do not store it in public repositories.
- Open the API documentation: https://my.symfio.app/external/api/v1/webjars/swagger-ui/index.html#/. It lists the available endpoints, parameters and response formats.
- Try the calls directly in the documentation (Swagger lets you run requests after entering the key) and then move them to your tool.
Tips and common mistakes
No code needed: If you want to analyse the data rather than integrate it, you do not need the API. Conrad, the AI controller built into Symfio, answers questions about statements, cash flow and receivables in plain language. And through the Symfio MCP server you can connect Claude to the same data – see Connecting Claude to the Symfio MCP server.
Note: The API respects entity permissions. With a key you only get the data of the companies for which access was granted.
Frequently asked questions
Is the API free of charge?
The Symfio team will confirm the terms of API access when processing your request.
Can I also write to Symfio through the API?
The external API is primarily for reading data. The current set of endpoints is listed in the linked documentation.
What if the key has leaked?
Write to support@symfio.app immediately; we will revoke the key and issue a new one.
